WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Walter B. Jones is thanking President Donald J. Trump for acting on his request to expedite granting Governor Roy Cooper’s September 13 call for a major emergency declaration under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act in North Carolina following the aftermath of Hurricane Florence. Last Thursday, Congressman Jones wrote to the president asking that he expedite the request.

“Hurricane Florence has brought record flooding and devastation across our great state,” said Congressman Jones. “As we begin the process of recovery, I am extremely thankful that President Trump and Governor Cooper have quickly mobilized federal and state resources to help those in need. Together, we will get through this.”
