Apr 19, 2017 Issues: Illegal Immigration

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) and 35 of his colleagues are calling on House appropriators to include language in a government funding bill to prevent Department of Homeland Security funds from being allocated to “sanctuary cities.” These municipalities defy federal immigration laws by harboring illegal immigrants and providing safe havens for criminals.

“No city is above the law,” said Congressman Jones. “If you’re taking federal money, the least you can do is follow the law.  We must stop rewarding jurisdictions that blatantly flaunt the rule of law and endanger our fellow Americans.”

Additionally, Congressman Jones recently cosponsored H.R. 400, Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act, which would prohibit sanctuary cities from receiving grants from governmental assistance programs.

The full letter to House appropriators from Congressman Jones and his colleagues is attached.

Congressman Jones has long supported strong borders and anti-illegal immigration enforcement.
