JONES DEFENDS THE UNBORN

Oct 3, 2017 Issues: My Work for the Pro-Life Cause

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) continued his fight for the unborn and voted for H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This legislation, introduced by Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-8), would make it a crime for any person to perform an abortion if the probable age of the fetus is 20 weeks or older, the time at which an unborn child is medically proven to feel pain.

“The act of taking a life is always wrong, especially when we know that life can feel pain.” said Congressman Jones.  “We must restore the sanctity of life in this country. Hopefully, passage of the Pain-Capable Act can be a pivotal step in that process.  I urge the Senate to quickly move this bill so it can be sent to the president and signed into law.”

H.R. 36 passed the House by a vote of 237-189. It now heads to the Senate for further consideration.

Congressman Jones is a senior member of the Pro-Life Caucus and has been an unwavering advocate of legislation to protect the rights of the unborn throughout his tenure in Congress.
