JONES CALLS OUT DOD OVER GERMAN PAY RAISE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) is calling on the Department of Defense (DoD) to reverse its decision to provide pay raises to foreign national employees in Germany while U.S. employees at FRC East and other facilities here in America are furloughed. In a letter sent to the Pentagon yesterday, Jones and a bipartisan coalition of 17 members of Congress expressed concern that the DoD’s decision would impact military readiness and cause highly skilled civilian workers in the U.S. – who have not been rewarded with a pay increase in three years – to look for employment elsewhere.
“It’s a slap in the face to spend American tax dollars on a pay raise for German employees while the dedicated workers at FRC East and depots across the country are being furloughed,” said Congressman Jones. “The Obama administration needs to get its priorities straight. It’s time they put America first.”
