JONES REACTS TO CORPS DECISION ON PCS PHOSPHATE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Walter B. Jones (R-NC) today reacted to a decision by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Washington, D.C., Headquarters office regarding PCS Phosphate’s pending application for a mine continuation permit for its Aurora, North Carolina, facility. PCS Phosphate is the largest private employer in Beaufort County, employing over 1,000 people.
Congressman Jones’ statement follows below:
“I commend the Corps for their diligent work on the PCS Phosphate permit over many years. They’ve done a great job of thoroughly evaluating the project and requiring environmental impacts to be fully mitigated.”
“The jobs generated by PCS are just too important to put at risk and I strongly urge EPA and the Corps to come together in good faith over the next several days and quickly work out any remaining differences.”
