D. H. CONLEY HIGH STUDENT RECEIVES CONGRESSIONAL ACADEMY NOMINATION

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Walter B. Jones (R-NC) today announced his nomination of D. H. Conley High School student Cory Michael Hume to the United States Air Force Academy. Cory is the son of Scott and Hope McAndrew of Grimesland, North Carolina.

The U. S. Air Force Academy is one of five service academies established by the federal government for the purpose of training officers of the Armed Forces. Selection to academies can be extremely competitive as each academy pays for appointees’ tuition, fees and boarding and provides a monthly stipend.

Every applicant, except those to the Coast Guard Academy, must receive a congressional nomination and apply directly to the academy. Those receiving nominations and appointments to the U.S. service academies must exhibit strength in character, scholarship, leadership, physical aptitude, medical fitness, goals and motivation.
