JONES NAMED TO U.S. BORDER CONTROL HALL OF FAME

Oct 17, 2006
Third District Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC) has been named to U.S. Border Control’s Hall of Fame for the 109th Congress in recognition of his voting record and leadership on border security and immigration issues. U.S. Border Control (USBC) is a non-profit organization with a mission to end illegal immigration by securing the nation’s borders and reforming border and immigration policies. “Representative Jones has distinguished himself by scoring 92 percent on all the House bills and amendments that U.S. Border Control had selected in its voting analysis of legislation critical to reforming America’s border and immigration policies,” said USBC Chairman Edward I. Nelson. “The people in the 3rd District of North Carolina are fortunate to have such a Member of Congress working for their best interests,” Nelson continued. “There is much to be done to secure our borders against drugs, disease, terrorism, and illegal migration, while developing sensible and fair immigration policies. The 109th Congress has made an important start in that direction by passing the Secure Fence Act, but much more needs to be done.” A complete listing of scores for each U.S. Representative and Senator and the votes used in USBC’s analysis can be found on U.S. Border Control’s website (www.usbc.org). “I am honored to accept this recognition and thankful to U.S. Border Control for all that they do to educate citizens and advocate increased border security and immigration reform,” Jones said. “The illegal immigration crisis is causing higher taxes for social services, higher costs for health insurance, and it costs our public schools millions every year. It also threatens our national security, as our open borders provide an easy entry point for terrorists who wish to do us harm,” Jones said. “It is time for a long-term solution to the problem of illegal immigration, and I pledge to keep border security and immigration enforcement as top priorities for as long as I have the privilege to serve in Congress.” U.S. Border Control is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, established in 1988. USBC educates the public on issues related to protecting the sovereignty of the United States. These include the establishment and maintenance of effective border integrity systems, economic policies, national defense practices, and immigration policies focusing on ending illegal immigration by securing the nation’s borders and reforming immigration policies.
