Campaign Finance Reform
It is time to return power to the people and get big money out of politics.
I am greatly troubled by the undue influence that fat cat lobbyists and special interests have in Washington, DC. Now, more than ever, secretive special interest money plays an enormous role in our electoral process and in governing. Beginning in my days in the North Carolina General Assembly, I have long advocated for returning power to the people and getting big money out of politics. To that end, I have supported numerous campaign finance reform legislative efforts:
H.R. 20 – Government by the People Act - Which would empower everyday Americans to gain influence in politics by matching small dollar contributions to candidates who agree to leave the current system of big money donations.
H.R. 150 – No Political Funds for Personal Use Act - Which would prohibit the personal use of PAC contributions by a candidate.
H.R. 149 – Which would allow candidates to choose an individual to designate an individual to disburse campaign funds should the candidate die.
